We had a wonderful Christmas this year.

Consolacion Ward Christmas Party with some wonderful friends and missionaries

Menu for Christmas Party--Lechon Baboy. Bring your own rice and dishes and anything else you want to eat. Members kept bringing food over to our table to share.

They had 3 roasted pigs to feed the ward and there was not a scrap left.
The missionaries table. Very lami food.

Joseph and Mary

Mary and the Angel with their friend

We joined with the Consolacion Zone missionaries for their Christmas party.
We made pulled pork sandwiches with chips and the missionaries all brought delicious food as well. There are some very good cooks in this zone. They had a very lovely program with wonderful musical numbers. They had decorated the pavilion by the sisters apartment with lights and a tree.
It was a festive time.

We made Rudolf from root-beer bottles for a treat to friends, guards, swimming pool attendant and yard care worker. On Christmas Day we borrowed the mission homes popcorn popper and made caramel corn to give out.

 The Sabatin family.
We had a turkey dinner early in the month at our home. Then attended FHE
at their home this week. They are the happiest people I know. Love them.
We played charades with them. Lots of laughs and fun.

It was the mothers birthday. They served us lami food.
A pasta dish with ground pork and cheese, apples, bread and a delicious chocolate cake.
 The Vilamor family.
On Christmas Day Reed dressed up in his Santa suit and we visited the Vilamor family delivering some treats we had put together for them. They enjoyed the surprise visit by Santa, but they weren't too excited to have their picture taken as we had caught them out working on the apartment they are building on their property and had their work clothes on. They are a favorite family. They surprised Reed with a new watch. The father of the family has worked for Timex  for 29 years as a machinist and receives two watches a year from his employers.
Dad will enjoy the watch especially as it is a gift from wonderful people that he admires and respects.

This nativity is just down the road a couple of lots at the gas station. I think it is my favorite Nativity.
The missionaries came in from all the islands for the Mission Christmas Celebration. We had a Mission Conference with workshops in the morning, a catered lunch and then had games and a very lovely program followed by the 1st Presidency Christmas Devotional.

Sr couples serving in the Cebu East Mission
(We have one other couple but for some reason they weren't around when this photo was taken).

This was the 1st group of missionaries that came into the field after the Mission was created.
They all had matching shirts for a photo as the sisters are all departing in January.
They have been wonderful missionaries.

We had a flip flop gift exchange that was a lot of fun. These are the ones I put together
Getting reading to pass the flip flops using a right and left story for the exchange.

 New flip flops for everyone.

Some didn't get the right size.
We had some beautiful musical numbers. Missionaries come with great talent.
The New Zealand Elders performed the Haka.

Neighborhood Christmas Decorations

Local decorations for the different Barangays.
These gates lead into the different Barangays off the highway.
Some are definitely nicer than others. They do a lot of recycling in their decorations.

This is the tree in the Lilo-an town center.

A nativity in the trees down the road from us.

The Tayud Barangay center with their nativity and Christmas Deco. (We live in Tayud)

Festival of Trees Philippine Style

Driving to Bogo there are several communities that have their own little Christmas Tree Festivals. they are a little different from what we are accustomed to for tree decorating. Their trees are still very festive, just not traditional.
Many of the trees were made from the grasses that they weave to make baskets.
The natural grass ones are by far my favorite ones. I love the stars.
Others were made from recycled objects like pop bottles and newspapers.

Love the manger scenes inside the trees. Disappointed that the lights kind of hide the features,
It took me a while to recognize that the two figures on the sides of the scene were sheep.

In Catmon they also have a small festival of trees. I didn't get pictures of all of them.
The cupcake tree was a real surprise.
